All Stars Junior

All Stars Junior is an innovative school-based prevention curriculum for fourth and fifth grade children. All Stars Junior is developmentally appropriate for fourth or fifth grade (9 through 11 year old) students. All Stars Junior prepares students to participate in the middle school programs, All Stars Core, Booster, and Plus.

Junior for School or for Community?

There are two versions of All Stars Junior, one that integrates into the language arts, science and mathematics curriculum in the classroom – the school version – and one designed for after-school and community settings that focuses on character education.

Junior School

All Stars Junior school program is designed for fourth grades (nine 30-minute science and math activities and nine language arts activities) and fifth grades ( twenty-two science and math activities and nine language arts activities). In both programs activities reinforce positive norms that reduce drug use, fighting, and and increase telling the truth. Language arts activities reinforce idealism and a future orientation. Behavior management activities delivered throughout the school year as weekly 15-minute team meetings known as All Stars Challenge promote positive social interactions. Junior School works best when taught by a classroom teacher with assistance from a guidance counselor.

Junior Community

The All Stars Junior for Community program emphasizes the development of six positive character traits (being caring, forgiving, being helpful, being honest, being respectful and being responsible). All Stars Junior is designed to promote positive character traits, establish positive norms for social behavior, promote bonding with positive, supportive social institutions, and promote positive parental attentiveness. Junior Community has fifteen 30-minute activities, each of which includes a take-home sheet for parents.  Junior Community can be taught by a group leader or an outside specialist.  While designed for community settings, it also works well in school environments that seek to promote positive character development.
